Access after dark was a hassle, as nobody informed us about the door code. we ended up stranded outside for quite some time. The room setup left something to be desired due to some cleanliness issues we encountered, which created discomfort. The bar closed earlier than expected, cutting short our evening options, and the lack of a breakfast menu on the tables was puzzling. if you hadn't looked online beforehand, you'd be in the dark about your choices when ordering.

Charming Stay with Delicious Food

I had a wonderful stay at this quaint inn, where the warmth and kindness of the staff made all the difference. The family room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Although I didn't get to enjoy the food, the breakfast options looked delightful, and guests raved about their meals like the homemade steak and ale pie.

I thoroughly enjoyed the warm ambiance of The George Inn, with its charming, characterful building full of history. The spacious common areas made it easy to navigate, and the attentive staff ensured our comfort throughout our stay.

A conventional shower would be preferable.

fabulous inn a short drive from stonehenge. large and comfy twin room that was clean. food downstairs was sooo delicious, especially the breakfast! staff were really friendly too. hiked up the hill behind the inn for some stunning views over the town.

only thing is the room decor could use a refresh and the heating coulda been on a bit longer.

This was just an excellent fit for a flash stay in Mere (Wiltshire) with extraordinarily good value for money. The two lady staff members were very nice and acknowledged our feedback well. Make sure to check on cleanliness before you settle in.

Had an amazing group trip with friends! We visited the interactive museum and explored the nearby Longleat. The food was top-notch, especially the pies. Clean rooms and friendly staff made our stay memorable. Breakfast had great variety, just wish for more tea options.

we had a great time at the george! the building is full of character, and our quadruple room was large and cozy. the claw-foot bath was a favorite for my wife. the location is perfect, sitting nicely between surrey and devon. the food was fantastic, and the staff was attentive and friendly, just like guests loved to mention.

The stay featured exceptionally clean and spacious accommodations, with deep, comfortable carpets adding a cozy touch. Breakfast options were abundant, and the highlight was definitely the homemade jams served alongside delicious meals. On the downside, one evening our dining experience was disrupted due to a lack of available seating, and breakfast was disappointing as some advertised items were unavailable. difficulties with access codes for the entrance resulted in unnecessary hassle during our stay.

The room had a private bathroom, a tea/coffee maker, and towels. There’s a great selection of local ales. Breakfast featured a delicious country-style spread with freshly cooked options. The homemade steak and kidney pie for dinner was super generous and yummy. The historic charm adds to the cozy vibe. Great night’s sleep too.
